Pumpkin Carving
The first thing we need to make sure of when discussing Pumpkin carving is Safety. Please make sure that the tools you use are age appropriate for your carvers. Most retail and Grocery stores sell pumpkin carving kits like these.

Or you can simply use Knives and spoons you have at your house. I am sure there are plenty of Knife options at your home as well. I would suggest that you use a butter knife for the little ones.

Setting up your carving Area
The next part is setting up your Carving area. You want to make sure that you cover the area with one of the following; Plastic throw away tablecloth, Newspaper, trash bag, tarp, or a plastic shower curtain. This is so that all the sticky and wet pumpkin pieces don’t stain your table or floors.
I highly recommend that you have your carvers wear some older clothes that can be stained just in case. I also recommend having a big bowl or bowls for pumpkin seeds and pieces. You might even want to save the seeds for roasting.

Stencils
It’s a good idea to have a stencil when carving with little ones. The stencil makes it easier for them to cut out the design that they want. Here are some cute and easy stencils for printing.

Ingredients:
•1 can Refried Beans
•Shredded Mexican Cheese Blend
•You can add a cooked meat if you prefer
•10 Flour Tortillas (Soft Taco or Fajita Size)
Method:
•Using a sharp knife or kitchen shears, cut a Jack-O-Lantern face out of 5 of the tortillas. I also made little notches at the top to make it look like the stem. (This can be done ahead of time & then stored back in the tortilla bag until you are ready to cook.)
•Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
•Place the 5 uncut flour tortillas on a large baking sheet. Make sure they do not overlap. Spread a few tablespoons of refried beans over each tortilla. Sprinkle them with the Mexican cheese, and then top each one with a cut out tortilla.
•Bake in the preheated oven for around 5 minutes, just until the cheese has melted a bit, and the tortillas have started to brown.
